These are student-elected Year 6 students who represent each of the 4 School House Teams. Para Hills West Primary School expects its captains to model the RIBA Values as well as behaving in a courteous manner, engaging in safe play, completing work to the best of their ability, modelling the Dress Code policy including always wearing full school uniform, and participating in school events.
These students undertake the following roles:
In term 4, year 5 students will need to gain a nomination and a seconder from another Year 4, 5, or 6 student.
If the nomination is successful they will then be required to prepare and deliver a 2-3 minute speech to their House Team, explaining why they would make a great School Captain for their team.
Once all the speeches have been given, students will be voted for by their House Team using a secret ballot.
The Nominees for each House will then be scrutinised by the panel made up of; the Principal or Principal’s nominee, a Year 5 teacher and two current School Captains. The panel will take into account their speech, number of votes collected and any other relevant information.
At the start of the new school year School Captains will be announced at the assembly. Captains will begin their role immediately.
