House Teams

What are House Teams?

At Para Hills West Primary School, all of our students are a member of one of the four House Teams. These House Teams have played an important part in the history of Para Hills West Primary School. The teams are:

Students are able to support their House Team throughout the year in a variety of ways; Students are able to earn points for their team by earning house points during class time, earning points for their team on Sports Day, and receiving Values awards. At Para Hills West Primary School we have seven perpetual trophies that each House Team strives to have their name engraved on by the end of each year. We have:

  • The House Points Trophy for the house team scoring the most house points during class time.
  • The Values Award Trophy for the house team earning the most Values awards during the year.
  • The Sports Day Tabloid Trophy for the house team receiving the most points during the Tabloid events on Sports Day.
  • The Sports Day Sprints Trophy for the house team scoring the most points during the Champion Sprints.
  • The Sports Day Health Hustle Trophy for the house team with the most innovative, creative and well performed Health Hustle.
  • The Sports Day Chant Trophy for the house team who performs their team chant best
  • The Sports Day Overall Trophy for the house team who receives the most points on Sports Day

How to become a member of a House Team?

To become a member of a house team is quite simple. If a student has older brothers or sisters at the school already, they will be placed in the same house team as their sibling/s. If the student is new to Para Hills West Primary School, then they will be placed in a House Team once they are enrolled. The school aims to balance numbers in each house across the school. This means that some classes will have more or less of one colour. By averaging scores across classes we are able to ensure scoring is equitable.
